Overview:
District Market was a retail tenant fit-out in the A Concourse of BWI and our first project with the Marshall Retail Group. The project was completed concurrently with the base building contractor’s multimillion dollar expansion of the A concourse.
The project included new tile floors, walls, ceilings, security grille and storefront. The existing space was core and shell, so a new electrical distribution system was installed. Two features that stand out in the space were design-build features to meet the architect’s concept. Our design for the faux windows were prefabricated storefront systems with white laminated glass and field applied 1″ muntins to the glass to provide the warehouse style window that the architect desired. Our 2nd design-build feature was the two featured trusses and frames. We utilized 1″ square bar stock and had a local fabricator roll the steel to provide the arc. We completed the welded bar stock frame and ½” diagonals, which provided the final truss look while keeping the truss at a manageable weight.
Upon completion of this project, MRG requested A.R. Marani perform two additional tenant fit outs for them at the BWI Airport.
